How it started
From a love of colour to a boutique of our own
So You! started with a love of clothes. Years ago, after some time off work, my lovely husband Stephen asked me what I'd really love to do. My answer was simple: I love clothes! So I started working part-time in a clothing store, and six months later I had my colours done. It changed everything. (My wardrobe was all white, black and navy, and none of those are my colours!)
I wanted every woman to feel the way I felt that day, so I studied for a proper qualification in colour, then in body shape and styling, and set up my own consulting business.
I've been helping women find their colours and style for over 20 years. I'm a certified image consultant and colour analyst, NZFIP certified, and I still love that moment when someone sees herself in the right shade and smiles.
I was working with a boutique in Rangiora when I said to the owner one day, "If you ever think of selling, please let me know." Six months later, she did! (Stephen's first words when I told him are probably best left off the website...)
After the earthquakes we traded from a container for a year and a half, with me running the shop on my own. Then we moved into a brand new building, outgrew it in three and a half years, and now we're in our bigger home in the Conway Building, designed inside just how we wanted it.
